Cleanliness is Cool

Some of the most neglected home maintenance or repair tasks can reap huge benefits in energy savings and will prolong the life of mechanical systems or appliances. These include replacing furnace filters and cleaning the filter area, and oiling fan motors, removing the lower air intake panel at the bottom of refrigerators and vacuuming the exposed coil, washing debris from the metal fins surrounding the air conditioning compressor, and removing and vacuuming out both the dryer vent hose and the dryer outlet.

Regular maintenance and cleaning will not only prolong the life of the units, it will allow them to operate at a lower temperature and reduce their energy usage.
