Bathroom: Shower Drain Problems

There are a couple of issues with shower drains that sometimes plague homeowners. The first is the drain getting clogged with hair, and the second is mildew growing in the drain pipe.

Removing the drain is simple—there are two screws that hold it in place—but dropping the screws down the drain can pose a more difficult problem. It’s an easy matter to avoid that one, though. Just cover the drain with tape prior to removing the screws and place the screws OUTSIDE THE SHOWER. You can remove any hair clog and can rinse the drain with a mixture of bleach and water to kill mildew on the pipe surface.

Once the drain is clean and unclogged, just replace the cover and remove the tape.
